ALIGN Initiative was established in response to a recurring challenge observed across public sector and development initiatives: strong programs and investments often struggle to translate into durable institutional systems.
Across health, education, and innovation, efforts are frequently implemented through parallel structures that weaken coordination, ownership, and sustainability. ALIGN was created to help bridge this gap—supporting institutions to integrate initiatives into existing systems, strengthen governance and capacity, and ensure progress endures beyond funding cycles.
Our work is grounded in close collaboration with institutions and partners, informed by research, and shaped by real-world operational and political contexts.
ALIGN Initiative is led by practitioners with experience across public systems strengthening, research, and multi-country initiatives in West Africa.
Our work is delivered through a small core team and a network of collaborators, drawing on technical, research, and facilitation expertise as needed to respond to specific institutional contexts and partner needs.
This flexible model allows ALIGN to remain adaptive, partner-driven, and focused on strengthening local institutional capacity.
Our mission is to partner with governments, institutions, and funders to design and strengthen sustainable, locally owned systems that deliver long-term public impact.
